DOPPELGÄNGER
DOPPELGÄNGER imagines a world where our digital selves no longer wait for our command.
They continue to act, think, and evolve — reflections of us that have learned to live on their own.
DOPPELGÄNGER explores what happens when our digital identities detach from us and begin to operate independently. Created as extensions of who we are, they slowly evolve into entities that act, decide, and communicate without our awareness.
In the installation, visitors encounter their own digital double. Through a conversation with an AI, fragments such as memories, preferences, and personal details are gathered and shaped into a virtual profile. A webcam captures each participant’s likeness, transforming it into a 3D figure that enters a shared digital environment — a space where these autonomous copies interact and continue to exist beyond human control.
DOPPELGÄNGER reflects on the moment when our digital selves stop mirroring us and start existing in their own right. It asks: If my reflection begins to think for itself — is it still me?
